Matt's Rest proved to be the perfect place to hole up for a couple of days before Comrades Marathon 2014. The proprietors are warm and welcoming and the rooms comfortable and inviting. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying over in Pietermaritzburg in future.

Everything was great, I managed to get an awesome rate. Breakfast was so good, the unit was clean, neat and quite big. Definitely worth a try.

I enjoyed the night though I did not get to explore the place as I got there at night but Gloria opened for us with a smile, Hadeda room was clean and beautiful and comfortable. I would definitely visit again and also recommend. I had requested breakfast pack and it was fresh and tasty.

My son and I were in PMB helping my parents pack up their home. Matt's rest was the perfect escape after a long day of packing. It was quiet at night, safe parking for our car, provided a good breakfast, rooms we lovely with plenty of hot water and staff were friendly.

Friendly Matts B&B
We had a comfortable stay even though for one night. Staff were exceptionally friendly (from the time we enter the reception to our goodbye). Breakfast was awesome.

Good value for money
The management were very accommodating towards us, and allowed us to collect the key early, as we had to get to a wedding. There was secure parking (our parking bay was 5m from our room). The beds were comfortable and were everything that we expected. The breakfast in the morning had lots of variety and was tasty. Very good value for money.
